CBD Dosage Guide: How Much CBD Should I Take?

Whether you’re a first-time or experienced user, figuring out how much CBD to take can be a bit confusing. Every day we answer questions regarding what is the proper dosage of CBD and the answer is, it’s different for every one. We know... that's probably not the answer you're looking for, but consider the variables at play.

People are taking CBD for different reasons, therefore one person may need a stronger dose over another. For example, someone taking CBD for anxiety due to a upcoming social event verses someone taking CBD for chronic pain will most likely require different dosages.

Also to note, since we all have different body chemistries, each person may react differently to different amounts CBD; similar to caffeine.

With that being said, there isn’t a “one size fits all” dosage, and it will take some trial and error to see what works best for you.

Be patient, consistent and know that our products are made to work with your body naturally. We're sure they can benefit you in one way or another and we are here to help you every step of the way!

Start Small, Increase Gradually

We set a general recommendation of 20-25 mg of CBD per serving. If you are a person in chronic pain, start with 35-40 mg of CBD per serving.

If you are not feeling any relief after one hour, it is recommended that you slowly increase until your desired dose is ingested. Try taking an additional 1/2 ml to start. Remember, it does take some time for your body to absorb and process CBD, so results will not be immediate. Although, the effects can last about 6-8 hours.

Start by taking 1 serving in the morning and 1 serving at night for one week.

By taking CBD twice a day, you are giving your body a true to chance to benefit from it. You'll also see the difference in how you feel if you take it in the morning verses at night. Some find they become very relaxed and tired, so taking CBD at night works best for them. They find pain relief and sleep like a baby! Win! Win!

If you find you're becoming too relaxed during the day, try taking a lighter dose in the morning and a stronger dose at night. And remember, when we say "too relaxed' that doesn't mean you're getting high... It means your Endocannabinoid system which is connected to your Nervous system, is reacting to CBD by helping you slow down, calm down and giving you a sense of relief you've been searching for.

Once you find your perfect CBD dose, you can change your routine to taking it only once a day if that works for you.

Consistency is Key

If you take a single dose and feel no relief, you are not alone. It takes time for CBD to build up in your system and you’ll have the best results if you stay on a steady regime. We’ve had customers tell us how they were consistent in the beginning, but their routine faded over time and due to that, they could feel a real difference in their body. The key is patience and consistency!

Some will say "CBD didn't work for me.." and while every so often that may be true, usually the reason behind "it didn't work" was because someone didn't take a strong enough dose or stay consistent enough to give it a chance.

CBD for Pets

At Budz Family, we also have CBD for pets. Our CBD pet products include a Chicken Flavored Tincture, along with CBD Pet Treats and CBD Peanut Butter. CBD can help aging pets who have stiff joints, along with pets who suffer from anxiety due to weather, crowds or from being young and having lots of energy.

Depending on the weight of your four-legged furry friend, this will determine how much CBD they need.

We set a general recommendation of 2 mg of CBD for every 10 lbs.

If you are giving CBD to your pet for pain, give every 8 hours. If it is for anxiety related issues, give 30 minutes prior to stressful event.

After an hour or so, if you do not notice any difference, try giving an additional 1/2 dose. For example, if you have a 50 lb dog and gave them a single dose (1 ml) of the Pet Tincture, give an additional 1/2 ml. If you give a 50 lb dog a single CBD Pet Treat, give them another half and see how they do. If you gave your pup a teaspoon of the CBD Peanut Butter, give an additional 1/2 teaspoon and see how they respond.

How To Give Your Pet CBD

For our CBD Pet Tincture and Peanut Butter, you can mix this in their food, put on a treat or put directly into their mouth. Dogs love to lick the CBD Peanut Butter right off the spoon!  As for the CBD Pet Treats, you can give them these like you would any other dog treat.
